Islamic Group House
Purpose
Our purpose for the MSA House is to unite the sisters of the community to socialize and serve out our Islamic duties.
Examples: Writing inspiring speeches, writing a useful article, creating a program for Mosque or inviting speakers or scholars to the community.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for young passionate positive women who want to make a difference in the community and gain knowledge.

Think of it as a Sorority!
Young women ready to leave their homes yet still live like a big family with other sisters.

Mission
Our mission is to establish a home within the community that welcomes the young women to participate hosted by the MSA House, Insha’Allah! Let us help one another to become better Muslims while having a proper social life outside of work and school.
Note: we DO NOT want to take away the importance of prayer or going to Mosque.

A Saturday To Give Back (8/11/12)

10 am on a Saturday morning, if I am not running errands I am might be in my pajamas. However, it was no ordinary Saturday, it was a day of giving back. An organization called MPACCT DMV hosted an event called “Feed The Homeless”, we all gathered at Masjid Muhammad located at 1519 4th St NW Washington, DC at around 10 am. All praise due to God, there were many volunteers, and as time went on more showed up. We made 200 lunches, which included turkey sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, juice, a granola bar, apple sauce, and chips. Everyone came together and worked as a team, if there were too many people at one station, then someone would go and see what else needed to be done. It was great to see  people young and old working together for such a great cause. Once the lunches were prepared the organizers coordinated caravan / carpool,  and we all drove down to one of the parks in DC. As soon as we got out of the car, the homeless people were ready for us. In addition to lunches, we also passed out toiletries. Thank you MPACCT DMV and all of the volunteers for making a difference in the community!!!!

How to help victims in Aurora, Milwaukee, Syria, Myanmar, Palestine and ways to deal with tragedy and loss

In the past few weeks many innocent lives have been lost, my prayers and thoughts go out to all of the victims and their families. The best thing that we can do at this time is to try to do what we can to help any way we can.  If we can give money let’s give money if we cannot give money then let’s get the word out to let others know how they can help.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Let’s also remember that as the quote says the only way to drive out hate is with love, so let’s try to find ways throughout our daily lives to spread love!
